Stilbite is mainly supplied from the Poona area of India. Deposits of Stilbite however are distributed across the world.
What is Stilbite?
Stilbite is a sodium calcium hydrous aluminum silicate which is found in combination with other Zeolite minerals such as Apophyllite and Heulandite. The colour range is from white to pale pinkish/yellow/orange and peach tones to deeper reddish brown. It is characterized by “sheaf-like” formations and grows in a similar formation as Heulandite.

Stilbite was first discovered and named by Jean Claude de la Métherie in 1797. It is therefore a relatively new discovery and does not have any myths or legends attributed to it.
In 1997 it was discovered that Stilbite has two distinct chemical forms which are now classified as Stilbite-Na and Stilbite-Ca. Visually these two forms are indistinguishable.
