How to Cleanse your Crystals

There are several ways to cleanse your crystals. Some crystals are more suited to particular methods. Keeping it simple tends to be my motto. If you over complicate things the reality is you just wont do it very often and it is something that does need to be done routinely. Cleansing is different from re-charging a crystal which we will discuss later.

Methods:
Salt Water
Place a small amount of salt in water, let it dissolve into solution and place your crystals in this. Leave it for a few hours or over night. I use Himalayan Rock Salt when I do this but its entirely a personal choice. Please don’t use table salt!
It is very important to be careful with this method. Some crystals such as Selenite , Celestite (Celestine) and Muscovite are water soluble. Don’t use this method with crumbly stones or those you can scratch with your thumbnail. Not recommended for jewelry.

Running Water
Hold your crystals in your hand under clean running water for a few moments. Some people like to take their stones to a river or the sea to cleanse them. Ensure that this is not a polluted source.

Lavender Bubble Bath
I quite like this method for Geodes. They really sparkle afterwards. If you have your crystals in say a kitchen environment or by an open fire they can collect grease and tarnish. This is a good way to get them nice and clean.

Candle Flame
A quick and simple method of cleansing. Pass each stone quickly through the flame which wont cause any damage….just think of the heat at the time of the crystal formation.

White Light
I visualise a beam of white light that comes into my crown chakra and out through my third eye chakra and then passing through the stone held in my hand. I visualise this being communicated through my breath as I blow on the stone. The light passes through the stone and into an imaginary vessel filled with white light. When your out crystal shopping this is a great way to cleanse on the hoof so to speak.

St Germain
Some people prefer to visualise their crystals in the purple flame of St Germain. To do this simply do the visualisation as for white light and ask St Germain to cleanse the crystals while picturing a vivid purple flame passing through the crystals.

Sound
You can cleanse many crystals at once using bells, cymbals or singing bowls

Smudging
Californian White Sage in combination with other herbs and grasses can also be used quickly to cleanse many crystals at once. Incense sticks or Incense resins are an alternative.


Burying in the earth
Some people bury crystals to allow the earth to cleanse them. I have to say I like the Gaia connection with this method. Many stones are affected by acid/ alkali levels, fertilizers and of course we have the hygiene issues if you have dogs or cats so some care has to be taken. However this is an entirely personal choice. It is whatever works for you.
