This caused Ares (God of War) to fly into a rage as he was Aphrodite’s ex-lover. Ares disguised himself in the form of a boar to mortally injure his love rival in the forest.

Adonis screams of agony attracted Aphrodite who rushed to his side to hold her dying lover. In her haste she cut herself on a brier and her blood mingled with that of her dying lover. This coloured the white quartz crystals pink to create Rose Quartz for the first time.

Zeus pitied Aphrodite and Adonis and decided to bring Adonis back to life for six months of the year to be with Aphrodite. This connected Rose Quartz to love and reconciliation.

In Roman mythology Cupid (God of Love, Desire and Passion) brought Rose Quartz to earth because it was such a powerful Love Stone. He spread it amongst mankind to kindle love and desire amongst humankind.
