Description
Tisbury Star Stone Tumblestone is also known as Tisbury Star Agate and Star Coral. It is a rare chalcedony pseudomorph of reef building corals of several species. Approximately 145 million years old, it is unique to the area around the town of Tisbury in Wiltshire, UK.
The stone had appeal to early man as early hand axes have been found in neolithic graves up to 193 km from Tisbury. This material is far too rare to be commercially worked, these pieces have all been hand worked, the batch was 50 kilograms but only 6kg was selected for sale as being top quality material.
