Although Smoky quartz is found all over the world natural smokey quartz is hard to find in sufficient quantity to meet demand. A majority of the readily available smokey quartz on the market is in fact irradiated clear quartz which turns the crystals a very dark brown. Please note that where we identify our smokey quartz as NATURAL then it is untreated and has been purchased from sources that guarantee it. In almost all cases (except rare Morion quartz which is almost black due to national irradiation over millennia) the very dark brown smokey has always been treated.
